Hi, I am Jennifer Edison and I am a Physician Assistant. I am one of the medical providers at the clinic. I see patients each day at the clinic. My main goal is to help all my patients live the best life they can and improve their health over time, with my help. Some people are curious as to what a PA actually does. A Physician Assistant works under the direction of a doctor and performs whatever duties the supervising physician sees fit for the PA to perform. This can be as simple as seeing the patient before the doctor comes into the room, to the PA seeing and diagnosing and treating the patient with the knowledge that they ca get help from their supervising physician at anytime. I have been a PA for 18 years and I have cared for patients in an underserved clinic for 14 of those years.
I will be doing this blog at least on a weekly basis. I hope to cover lots of areas of interest. I would love to answer questions or give assistance to anyone that wants to email me at jedison@saintmarkumc.com. I would like to start out this week by telling everyone about our new program we are starting to help you and anyone else help to start living a healthier lifestyle. Our staff has spent the last month changing our diets and exercise routines and attempting to improve our health and well-being. We will be launching this program to the congregation of St. Mark UMC and the community as a whole and all of out patients this week and I am looking forward to reporting my own progress, as well as, helping you to reach your goals.
Each week I also want to give you a "Tip of the Week". My tip for this week is "BUG BANDS". Bug Bands are all natural rubber bands for your wrists that work like bug spray but are not dangerous to you or your small children and they really work to repell insects. A friend told me about these little jewels last week. I had her bring me some for my family and they REALLY work. You can get them at the hellth food stores...ours came from Food for Thought for $5 each or 4 for $15. I intend to tell the world. Mosquito bites can be deadly so be sure to protect your love ones and this is a great way to do it.
Until next time.....Stay healthy and happy.
Jennifer
